Description and Target Audience: This AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Course is designed for experienced OB nurses who are advanced interpreters of fetal monitoring.  The conference will examine in-depth topics as well as advanced strip interpretation.

Objectives

At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

1.    Maternal physiologic changes of pregnancy, related to intrapartum complications.

2.    Fetal physiology underlying FHM

3.    Antepartum fetal surveillance

4.    Fetal arrhythmias

5.    Identification and management of complex fetal heart rate monitoring patterns.

6.    Communication and risk management issues.

Testing: Written exam. One-on-one skills testing required.

Course Length: 9.5 hours

Certification Length: 2 years

Includes: Student Manual and certification card.

Location: CoxHealth Education Center, CoxHealth North, K400, 4th Floor, Classroom #1.

Directions: Enter Cox North from the Robberson Ave. Northwest Entrance. Upon entering the building turn right and take the elevator to the 4th floor. You will arrive in the Education Center lobby.

Educational Credit:

Continuing education will be awarded by AWHONN for 8.0 contact hours.  Participants can print certificates 3 weeks after completion.

This program has been approved by CoxHealth for 1.0 trauma contact hours for CoxHealth employees.
